“Secrets of the Nire,” the Rightful Royal Family of the Celtic Isles
PORTLAND, Ore. (PRWEB) April 29, 2019 -- Author Anne Durand-Athy was always told her Irish family heritage was special. She just didn’t realize how special until she received a gift from her brother.
After the death of their mother, Durand-Athy’s brother gave her a black binder, filled with historical documentation and genealogical evidence of their Irish Clan Athy family, one of the first clans to settle on the Emerald Isle, dating back to the ninth century.
In “Secrets of the Nire,” Durand-Athy provides a fictional story, set in both modern-day and thirteenth century Ireland, about the ancient Athy Clan, who has a secret to protect. Durand-Athy weaves her own rich family stories with the story of the start of the British Monarchy and an intriguing murder-mystery that suggests the rightful “Royal Family of the Celtic Isles” may have, in fact, been Irish.
“Clan Athy was one of the original members of the Fourteen Tribes of Galway,” Durand-Athy said. “As I began learning more about my family and our ties to the settlement of the Emerald Isle, I had to go to the place where it all began.”
Durand-Athy traveled to the Nire Valley in Ireland, where her surroundings and binder of family history came together in this first book of a series about the rightful King of the Celtic Isles.
“I based my series on real characters from my family’s history,” Durand-Athy said. “While I had always been told of our rich heritage, I had no idea how rich it was…until I looked in that little, black binder.”
