Houston, TX (PRWEB) December 02, 2013
The Abbey at Westminster Plaza will play host to Houston Mayor Annise Parker on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2014. Mayor Parker will speak at the senior community from 2 to 3 p.m.
With the upcoming election, Mayor Parker is campaigning for her third term in office. She has served as the mayor of Houston since Jan. 2010. Before that, she served as an at-large member of the Houston City Council and as city controller. As mayor, she is responsible for the general management of the city and ensuring that all laws are enforced. She is Houston’s second female mayor, after Kathy Whitmire, and one of the first openly-gay mayors of a major U.S. city.
The event is free, and the community is invited to attend and meet Mayor Parker. She will be taking questions from the audience during her time at the senior living community. The event will take place at 2865 Westminster Plaza Drive, Houston, TX 77082. For more information about the event or to RSVP, please call Barbara McMahan-Cage at (713) 449-6940.
