SeniorScore™ helps determine most livable places for seniors.

First Livability Index for Senior Citizens based in Austin, TX, has developed the first comprehensive scoring system specifically designed to identify and measure the livability for seniors for any location in the United States. SeniorScore™ is an un-biased, data-driven algorithm that incorporates over 100 data points from numerous sources including Medicare, the US Census Bureau, and many other government and private databases.

The goal of SeniorScore™ is to determine how well a specific location accommodates the comfort and needs of senior citizens. According to the Census Bureau, the senior demographic now hosts 27% of the country’s population. The SeniorScore™ tool will help this growing population of seniors, who are searching for assisted living or new housing, find an adequate location based on multiple factors. It will also help users understand how their current home compares with other locations in terms of livability for older adults. “Ultimately, we hope that all seniors and their family members will utilize this free tool as a consistent part of their housing search,” said CEO and Founder, Ryan Patterson.

SeniorScore™ takes into account four different categories: health and safety, recreation and leisure, finance, and general quality of life. In addition to an overall score, the tool also identifies a specific score for each category. The health and safety score shows how well an area provides for the unique health needs of seniors. The recreation and leisure category describes the social and recreational atmosphere of a location as it relates to amenities and activities generally valued by seniors. The finance number gives insight into the overall economic and financial favorability of an area. The general quality of life score is based on a variety of measure that involve the general comfort and livability of an area.
