Consumers no longer look to traditional methods for information when faced with a challenge, but instead plug their question into a search engine for a quick and easy answer—top results getting the click.

Take the floods that have occurred throughout Chicagoland this spring and summer as an example. When homeowners are bailing out their basements and in need of home improvement services, they are searching online for a business to assist them.

That’s why Stevens & Tate stresses the importance of having a consistent online presence to its home improvement clients, making them fundamentally aware of the value of search engine marketing.

For Mold Solutions, a mold inspection, remediation and prevention company with offices in Chicago and St. Louis, Stevens & Tate made specific changes to the business’ website to amplify its search engine credibility in 2013.

Since Stevens & Tate revamped Mold Solutions’ Internet presence last year, the amount of visitors to the company’s websites has increased by 54%, with 77.58% of the visitors being new users. Additionally, overall page views have increased by 63.9% in that same time period.

According to Nicole Wagner, Stevens & Tate’s Internet marketing director, Google Adwords acts as a key player in search engine marketing for companies to improve their online reputations. The program works to reserve the highest-ranking advertising spots on Google’s results page for certain keywords based on a combination of the highest bid and overall customer satisfaction of the company page. By utilizing Google Adwords, Stevens & Tate has driven 42 times the online leads for Mold Solutions since the program’s launch in May 2012.

Although Adwords can be an effective tool, the program only allows for the optimization of a company’s placement within Google’s advertisements. Wagner recommends implementing a variety of tactics to optimize a home improvement website for the most search returns.

“Keeping a website active and up-to-date is essential to keeping consumers engaged,” said Wagner. “With Mold Solutions, we’ve implemented a solid, ongoing Internet marketing program to bring this home improvement business leads and website traffic.”
