Shalom Kosher Market Celebrates 40 Years in Business With a 40th Anniversary Celebration
Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- Shalom Kosher Market will kick off its 40 year anniversary celebration November 7th and 8th with throwback prices where customers can get a dozen medium eggs for 55 cents.
The celebration will take place November 7th – 24th. Customers can enjoy daily anniversary specials, tastings, and a chance to win a $40 Shalom Kosher gift certificate each day. Full details can be found on their website.
Shalom Kosher has also partnered with Manna Food Center during this celebration to collect donations for people in need in Montgomery County. Customers can purchase a $5 Manna Food Bag or make donations in any denomination with their cashier at checkout.
“This new partnership has come at a good time. We have seen a steady increase in need since the recession and with the recent cuts to SNAP benefits (Food Stamps), we expect the need to rise even higher. Hunger is a community-wide issue requiring community-wide interventions. This partnership is unique as it will help us stock a larger inventory of Kosher products to help address the needs of people with specific dietary requirements,” says Mark Foraker, Director of Development for Manna Food Center.
Locally owned and operated since 1973 by the Dekelbaum family, and passed down through three generations, Shalom Kosher Market has come a long way from their humble beginnings as a local kosher butcher shop. They are now the largest and longest standing Kosher Supermarket in the DC Metro area.
Last year, they made the move from their 5,000 sq. ft. location to their 25,000 sq. ft. location in Kemp Mill. Their 40th anniversary also marks their first year anniversary at their new location in Kemp Mill.
“It’s hard to believe we have already been in Kemp Mill for a year and it is really exciting for us to reach this special 40-year milestone. Our 40th Anniversary Celebration is our way of thanking our customers who have supported us all these years,” says Larry Dekelbaum. “We wanted to be able to do something special for them and the community and our new partnership with Manna and this celebration is our way of saying thank you for forty fabulous years.”
