Shamrock Trading Corporation Buys Property on Northeast Corner of 95th and Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (PRWEB) August 17, 2018 -- Shamrock Trading Corp. announces the purchase of 30 acres of property at the northeast corner of 95th and Metcalf in Overland Park, Kan. Though no plans have been finalized, the land could be used to build multiple office towers for the company’s growing base of employees.
Shamrock completed the purchase July 13 from LANE4 Property Group of Kansas City, Mo., and The Kroenke Group, a Columbia, Mo., developer of real estate properties including shopping centers and apartments.
The property, formerly known as the French Market, was developed in the 1950s for small shops and outdoor family entertainment. It was redeveloped in 1967 to include a K-Mart, Hancock Fabrics and other retail shops.
Currently, the property sits vacant with the exceptions of a Red Lobster restaurant on the southwest corner of the property and an Olive Garden restaurant on the southeast corner. These two properties are not part of the purchase.
“This location could be ideal for the expansion of our current campus,” said Tom Sullivan, COO and spokesperson for Shamrock. “Shamrock has its roots here in this community.”
The Overland Park area offers employees and their families access to one of the best public-school systems in the nation, excellent shopping and restaurant choices and quality housing -- both apartments and homes.
"All of these things are what our employees are looking for. And we listen to them. For three straight years we’ve been named one of the Best Places to Work in Kansas City because we genuinely care about our people. If they’re happy, we’re happy.”
Shamrock is best known in this community for revitalizing the northwest corner of 95th and Metcalf after buying and restoring the two large towers occupied by Sprint Corporation in the mid-1980s. The towers are adjacent to Shamrock’s newly-purchased property.
Owen Buckley, President of LANE4, has led redevelopment efforts for that tract of land for nearly five years and says the Shamrock purchase brings the best of all circumstances to the area. “This project could mark a huge boost to the economic development engine in Johnson County, and it represents a potential catalyst to retail and residential plans in the Overland Park area.”
The company’s employee base has skyrocketed 175% over the past three years. “This is an exciting time in the history of our company. We still have a lot of work to do to determine the best development plan, but a property of this size could allow for continued growth for many years to come,” Sullivan said.
