These powerful new features make data storage even more affordable to the end user.

ShareArchiver, INC today announced the general availability of their latest software release, ShareArchiver 3.0. The company now offers file archiving software with data compression and replication capabilities that make it one of their most significant software releases, along with a host of other enhancements.

“ShareArchiver 3.0 includes new capabilities that deliver more robust data volume reductions than ever before,” said Mazhar Lateef, Chief Technology Officer and founder of ShareArchiver. “These powerful new features make data storage even more affordable to the end user. Pair that with the existing file stubbing functionality, built-in e-discovery and data analytics, and flexible deployment options of our core solution, and you have the ideal data storage management solution for companies of all sizes and industries.”

ShareArchiver’s new data compression feature exists on top of their already provided data de-duplication, reducing data volumes more than most companies have ever imagined. When combined, these file archiving techniques have shown to reduce data by as much as 70%, depending on the type of data that exists.

“This is a huge reduction in overall data storage volumes, and data storage costs as a result. At one customer site, for example, we archived over 1.3TB of data,” said Lateef. After utilizing the compression and de-duplication features of ShareArchiver, they only had to store 530GB of that data. That reduction in data storage volumes saved them a substantial amount of money on data storage costs.”

One of the greatest challenges of managing data is to find and implement an effective backup and recovery plan. Traditional file archiving solutions offer a way to move data from primary storage to secondary storage while allowing seamless access to data, but data backup and recovery is still a pain point that can cost companies thousands of dollars per year.

ShareArchiver has discovered a way to blend data replication and file archiving to permanently resolve this issue. “With ShareArchiver 3.0, users can automate data backups for high availability, eliminating the need for additional backup and recovery solutions,” says Lateef. “We are thinking about data in a new way. We strive to deliver a more efficient file archiving process to our users every day, and this is just one of the many features of our software that help us do that. There’s even more to come in the next few months from ShareArchiver, so stay tuned!”

This data replication feature is highly configurable and can be scheduled to run periodically, on a daily or weekly basis. It is also capable of comparing and synchronizing 120,000+ files per minute – that is 7.2 million objects per hour.

These additions of data compression and replication, especially when combined with other rich features such as data discovery stubbing and LDAP integration, offer organizations a truly holistic file archiving solution.
