Old-School Mixtapes Revived With NFC Powered Sharetapes
New York, New York (PRWEB) February 02, 2015 -- With vinyl record sales hitting 9.2 million units in 2014, it’s clear that everything old is new again and Sharetapes, the NFC-powered mixtape, is bringing back the long-treasured tradition to the digital generation.
Sharetapes has worked with MTV, Sony, BBC, Spotify, and Pandora to bring the digital mixtape to a whole new generation of users. Sharetapes lets anyone create and share a favorite online music or video playlist from services like YouTube, Spotify, 8tracks, Pandora, and more.
“Curating a playlist for someone you love is a tradition worth keeping," said Sharetapes Co-founder, Richard Dupé. “Nothing is more personal than the art of assembling the perfect playlist.”
Sharetapes are physical cards resembling cassette tapes that contain NFC chips and QR codes so that they can play mixtapes on smartphones and tablets. After ordering blank Sharetapes, users can access existing music or video platforms to create personalized playlists and send the tapes to friends and loved ones.
Once users have received a loaded Sharetape, they can simply tap with NFC if they have a recent Android, Windows or Blackberry device, or scan the Sharetape using any QR code reader app, which is on all smartphones, including iPhones.
In honor of Valentine's Day, Sharetapes are available for $9.99 for a pack of 5, or a single tape is available for $2.49. Instead of flowers and candy, users can create a playlist filled with sappy love tunes, a compilation of romantic movie clips, or for friends without a significant other, a musical homage to the single life.
Sharetapes is powered by Tactify.
