Shayna Leigh Partners With Daniel Pearl World Music Days For EP Release Show 10/1 at NYC's Cutting Room.
New York, New York (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 -- This week New York City-based singer/songwriter, Shayna Leigh, will celebrate the successful release of her new EP, ‘Hey Shayna Leigh,’ with an official record release show in New York City. The latest effort from the independent artist was released on September 9th and dominated the charts, reaching #118 on iTunes Pop Albums Chart, #2 on Amazon's Singer/Songwriter Chart, and #3 on Amazon's Hottest New Releases Chart! Shayna worked on the EP with noted songwriter Peter Zizzo (Celine Dion, Elizabeth Gillies), Grammy winning producer Michael Mangini, and Steely Dan’s producer Gary Katz, and will be performing her new songs at The Cutting Room on Wednesday, October 1st.
Shayna is also honored to announce the special event will be part of the 13th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days. The month-long October event was started in memory of journalist-musician Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was killed by terrorists in 2002 and who spent much of his life unifying people around the world through the universal language of music. The Daniel Pearl World Music Days aim is to build bridges between communities using music and their honorary committee including artists such as Steve Aoki, Herbie Hancock, R.E.M, Pink, Matisyahu, Russell Simmons and more. Shayna is moved to be a part of such a wonderful cause and to dedicate her EP release show to the memory of such an impactful person, sharing, "Music can unite. It can uplift and make a difference. Originally from Orlando, Florida, Shayna Leigh was raised on The Beatles and Carole King, but was also a product of the boy band era. Her mixed influences stayed with her when she moved to New York City for college. Since then, Shayna has taken the musical pulse of the city and translated its long history into a sound that resonates throughout her debut EP, The Cold Hard Truth and the Dream. Daniel Pearl World Music Days was created in response to the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl at the hands of extremists in Karachi, Pakistan. Danny's family and friends came together to work towards a more humane world, forming the Daniel Pearl Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to promote cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music, and innovative communications.
