AMESBURY, Mass., Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On November 14th, Shea Concrete Products of Amesbury, MA hosted the fifth and final 2018 Technical Engineering Seminar with focus on the ReCon Retaining Wall System. In an effort to add more value an installation demonstration was included to show attendees how efficiently the ReCon system goes together and flexibility options based on retaining wall block types. This was included as part of the manufacturing plant "hard-hat" tour.
This seminar offered a half-day of technical learning from ReCon's Director of Engineering and Shea Concrete's internal team that supports the ReCon product line. The sessions included opening remarks from Shea Concrete President Greg Stratis, detailed product line information from ReCon's Mike Klotthor (Dir. of Engineering), and Larry Cutts & Ted Dimando (Shea's internal ReCon support team) reviewing all behind-the-scenes services that Shea Concrete provides to support engineers, specifiers and contractors through a retaining wall project to ensure a quality installation.
"When it comes to educating industry professionals on the value that the ReCon system can bring to a project as well as the tools available through ReCon, no one does it better than Shea. From their in-house support and on-site training to production capabilities and product availability, Shea continually strives to provide a superior experience for their customers." – Michael Klotthor, PE (Director of Engineering – ReCon)
Shea Concrete also offered guests a tour of their state-of-art precast concrete manufacturing facility and headquarters. The new headquarters, which opened in January 2018, was designed with LEED-certification in-mind by utilizing a wide range of sustainable materials and practices, including a roof-mounted solar panel array, sustainable precast concrete construction, brownfield and wastewater considerations, and steps to minimize construction waste throughout the construction process.
This event was offered by Shea Concrete at no cost to attendees, who also received 3-Professional Development Hours (PDH's). Due to the interest in attending this event, spaces filled up quickly and demand for future sessions remains high among industry professionals.
"I found this seminar extremely helpful. With land so tight in New England, there is always a need for retaining walls. ReCon and Shea Concrete provide a great solution for gravity walls that can be installed as stand-alone systems over twenty feet in height with no fabric or grid reinforcement needed. Also, I was grateful for the tour of Shea's facility. It is very impressive!" – Deb Colbert, P.E. (Senior Project Manager – Hancock Associates)
Shea Concrete is looking forward to announcing its 2019 seminar series in the coming weeks! Shea's commitment to education and providing quality seminars at no cost to attendees will continue to gain momentum in the coming year.
Shea Concrete Products would like to thank ReCon for their support in making the fifth 2018 Technical Engineering Seminar at the new headquarters a success, and looks forward to hosting more successful seminars in 2019!
