Shelby Lawyer David R. Teddy Elected President of North Carolina Advocates for Justice
Shelby, N.C. (PRWEB) July 05, 2013 -- David R. Teddy, a partner with the Shelby law firm of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert, P.L.L.C., has been elected President of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, a statewide association of attorneys dedicated to protecting the rights of North Carolina residents in civil and criminal cases.
Teddy served as President-Elect of the NCAJ for the past year. He previously served as Membership Vice President and Chair of the NCAJ’s Criminal Law section.
Teddy’s term as President began with his election at the NCAJ’s convention June 15-18 in Wilmington, and it will run through June 2014.
“I am honored to lead a group like the NCAJ, which strives to protect individual’s civil rights and the safety of families in North Carolina,” Teddy said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to promote the NCAJ’s professional and community education programs.”
Since 1988, Teddy has been active in the NCAJ, which is a non-profit, non-partisan organization of approximately 4,000 trial attorneys throughout the state of North Carolina.
Teddy is a board-certified specialist in North Carolina criminal law who devotes his legal practice exclusively to criminal defense. He currently serves as North Carolina State Bar appointee to the N.C. Commission on Indigent Defense. He is also member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College of DUI/DWI Defense.
In addition to his legal practice, Teddy is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars throughout the state on criminal law topics such as driving while impaired (DWI), the Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable stops, searches and seizures, and issues that arise in death penalty cases.
Teddy is a Shelby native and a 1988 graduate of the Campbell University School of Law, where he was president of the Student Bar Association.
