New Book by Shomari Inspires Love, Respect for Detroit
Detroit (PRWEB) March 20, 2014 -- In July of 2013, Detroit, previously nicknamed the Motor City, filed the largest municipal bankruptcy in United States history, says CNN. Despite its economic troubles, many people, including author Shomari, still fondly call Detroit home. In his new book, “DETROIT R.I.P Survivin the 'D' 1954 - ?” (published by Trafford Publishing), Shomari pens an honest account on the Motor City from the perspective of a man who witnessed the decline first hand and still manages to see the beauty in the city.
“I’m sharing with people what living in Detroit is like, the challenges that I’ve faced and have overcome and am still facing and overcoming to continue to survive a big city living,” Shomari says.
Set in Detroit and the surrounding metropolitan area, “DETROIT R.I.P Survivin the 'D' 1954 - ?” follows Shomari from his happy though somewhat difficult childhood to the trials he faced as an adult. As he gets married, has children and encounters problems with the law, Shomari takes lessons from the city and learns to better himself and his family.
Through his book, Shomari passes on the knowledge and wisdom he learned from Detroit onto his readers. He hopes they will develop a respect for the law, others and most importantly, themselves.
