Multipost Retail Systems, (http://www.multipost.ca) a leader in point of sale (POS) and inventory management and control systems for small- to mid-sized retailers, is releasing its comments on a recent survey that shows an increasingly large number of Canadians plan not to just shop online this holiday season, but also spend more.

According to a recent survey, 74% of Canadians plan to do at least some online shopping this holiday season. Of those, more than a quarter (26%) will make half of all their purchases online. Overall, Canadian consumers expect to increase their shopping by between two percent and 3.5% versus less than two percent in 2012. "More and more Canadians are discovering how easy it is to shop online. In 2012, we spent $18.9 billion online; that’s a 24% increase over 2010," says Greg Smith, sales manager at Multipost Retail Systems. "Not only are online stores open 24/7, but the advances in online shopping technology make the experience quick, convenient, and safe."

The study also found that the majority (63%) of Canadians would spend more online if retailers offered free shipping, while more than half (56%) said they would spend more if online prices were lower compared to traditional brick-and-mortar prices.

"Ultimately, Canadian shoppers are becoming savvy and more demanding. For online retailers to compete, they need to not just meet the needs of their online shoppers, but also exceed them," Smith adds. "Businesses looking to enhance their customers’ online shopping experience should consider a retail POS system that seamlessly integrates e-commerce and inventory management."

"Multipost’s ‘eStore ‘360’ is an extremely affordable POS system that eliminates the need to spend time and money on manually maintaining product prices, descriptions, images, quantities, and more in both the ‘Smart Vendor’ retail store and their online store," he concludes. "On top of that, eStore '360 is extremely affordable and allows small- to mid-sized retailers another channel to market to potential customers outside their brick-and-mortar location with a minimum investment."
