ShopSavvy Update Helps Holiday Gift Buyers Take Advantage of Earlier Black Friday Offers, Price Matching and Seamless Shopping

No. 1 mobile shopping platform releases new features for the holiday shopping season.

WHAT: Holiday shopping in 2013 will be all about taking advantage of earlier Black Friday deals, price-matching offers and shopping experiences that seamlessly bridge in-store and online. The latest release of ShopSavvy, the No. 1 mobile shopping application with more than 40 million downloads, is designed to help consumers do all three.

ShopSavvy can save shoppers hundreds of dollars and hours of time while showing them new products. From Black Friday and Cyber Monday through last-minute shopping, this app remains must-have for consumers on the go.

HOW IT WORKS: Enter the product name or scan the barcode of a product and the app indicates where the item can be found cheapest in-store locally or online. It also shows users where the product is currently in stock. The app tells consumers whether the store they are standing in has a price-matching guarantee and walks them through how to leverage that store’s policy.

Now busy shoppers don’t have to travel to a different store to get the best deal. The ShopSavvy Deals tab brings users a stream of special offers, promotions and coupons. The new release features millions of additional products, a brand-new social shopping feed system, Featured Lists and the ability to share products and lists through Facebook, Gmail and other social tools.


Earlier Black Friday deals. Big-box retailers like Target, Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Kohl’s and Best Buy are creating more of a Black Thursday by planning to open stores on Thanksgiving. Best Buy recently announced it will open stores at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28. Target will open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Earlier Black Friday offers with more complicated markdown schedules make it more important than ever to use ShopSavvy and find the best possible deals.

Price-matching policies. Walmart made headlines with its aggressive price-matching policy that guarantees it will match any product price. ShopSavvy makes price matching a breeze by arming shoppers with proof that the product they’re holding is cheaper at a local competitor’s store. Just show an employee the price difference and they’ll most likely match it. Forty-five percent of respondents to a National Retail Federation survey said they plan to use competitor price-matching tools to track prices.

Seamless shopping. This will be an omni-channel holiday. Online, in-store and mobile retail initiatives are all coming together to provide a seamless shopping experience. It’s what consumers expect and retailers are working hard to deliver. Nordstrom, Macy’s, Target, Walmart and Best Buy are all considered among the best retailers in providing a seamless experience. The management consulting organization Accenture said in its just-released annual survey of holiday shopping trends that “retailers must be able to satisfy American consumers who, more than ever, want to shop on their terms and expect every step in the journey to be a seamless one, whether they are online, shopping in a store or using their phones.”
