Liana Choi, co-founder of shüsling (pronounced “shoes-ling”), said she was inspired to create the fashionable and functional bag after years of hauling her sneakers around New York City. “I wanted to create a better way to transport shoes after spending years using plastic bags to carry my sneakers from home to the office and then to the gym,” she said.
Choi said the bags she found on the market were either too flimsy or too restrictive and did not provide enough ventilation for shoes. Disappointed by the limited selection, Choi partnered with her long-time friend Brian Fang to design a footwear storage bag that was stylish and practical. “I used an X-shape for the connecting elastic straps of the shüsling bag so it could easily and securely hold shoes. The elastic straps within each pouch are even long enough to firmly hold high-top sneakers,” said Fang, who has a background in engineering.
The shüsling bag is made of polyester-coated neoprene and mesh fabric, so shoes fit snugly, but are still well ventilated. The bag can hold several different types of footwear, including sneakers, athletic cleats, flip-flops, flats and dress shoes. The bag’s adjustable elastic straps can fit most standard U.S. shoe sizes.
