DrugNews Updates NuvaRing Information As Lawsuits Grow
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- The birth control safety advocates at DrugNews.net are announcing new information for women using the contraceptive NuvaRing. The latest court records show the number of lawsuits alleging blood clot injuries has grown over 10% in recent months*.
DrugNews was created to improve the safety and awareness of patients using popular prescription drugs by providing the latest warnings, research, recalls and legal news. Visitors can find out if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.
The resource center has added warnings by health experts that contraceptives like NuvaRing may be linked to higher risks of blood clots than traditional birth control pills. Last year, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study finding vaginal ring contraceptives could relate to a 2.5 to 3-fold increased risk of blood clots**.
So far, over 1,000 patients have filed a NuvaRing lawsuit alleging blood clot injuries, leading to cases being consolidated to a special federal court in Missouri. The formal case is known as In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, No. 08-md-1964, JPML, Eastern District Missouri.
Now, DrugNews has learned that the latest court records show the number of claims has increased from 1,163 on May 15th,to 1,296 on July 10, an increase of over 11%*. The first trial for these lawsuits is scheduled to start in October***.
Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact the DrugNews Resource Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights.
Due to the specialized nature of federal MDL drug injury cases, DrugNews only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled NuvaRing lawsuits.
