Bob and LaDorna Eichenberg, Co-Founders of Ellison, Honored for Industry Contributions by Craft and Hobby Association
Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- Recognized for their pioneering die-cutting achievements for the classroom to the craft room, Ellison® Educational Equipment, Inc. co-founders LaDorna and the late Robert Eichenberg have been awarded the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) Industry Achievement Award for their lifelong legacy of celebrating creativity.
“I am so honored and humbled to have LaDorna and Bob selected for this great honor!” said Kristin Highberg, Chief Executive Officer. “My grandparents transformed the education and crafts market with innovative die-cutting products, while also bettering the community through various philanthropic efforts, so this tribute is truly fitting.”
The couple’s landmark invention of the very first hand-operated die-cutting machine in 1977 forever changed the arts & crafts landscape, while simplifying and perfecting the process of shape-cutting. As a traveling art teacher, LaDorna sought to find an easier way to cut shapes for her classroom needs in order to spend more time with her students. Bob, an engineer, lent his talents to help design the first Ellison LetterMachine®. Risking their entire life savings, the Eichenbergs created quality, dependable products through the Ellison and the Sizzix® brands that continue to shape the creative trends in the crafts industry.
In addition to their numerous accomplishments throughout the years, the couple has extended their generosity to many philanthropic causes including local hospitals and the arts and educational communities.
The award will be officially presented at the CHA 2015 Mega Show in Anaheim, Calif., on January 11, 2015.
