VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) specializing in facilities maintenance and sustainment services for military and federal agencies, won an inaugural 2018 Platinum HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration Award from the US Department of Labor in recognition of its veteran hiring practices and the career development options it offers to formerly active servicemembers.
This award acknowledges that 25% of SJS's workforce is composed of veterans and SJS actively considers veterans for employment opportunities within every echelon and division of the business. For example, almost every employee in its J & J Powder Coating division is a veteran.
"Everyone at SJS is tremendously proud and excited to receive this honor from the Department of Labor," says Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and majority owner Gino Gonzalez. "Our company has a culture of service and ethics that is informed by the military experience of our employees, and our customers ultimately benefit from that, because we are conscientious about providing reliable, trustworthy, quality solutions to support our customers' missions."
The Department of Labor took into account SJS's annual charitable giving toward non-profit foundations that assist service disabled veterans with obtaining specialty support services, including EQUI-VETS of Virginia Beach, which uses equine therapy to help individuals healing from combat and service-related anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress.
SJS is 100% veteran owned. Gino Gonzalez is a service disabled veteran of the United States Navy who served aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). Roger M. LaPlante, co-owner and Chief of Operations (COO), is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) who specialized in avionics systems on F-4 Phantom jets.
SJS appreciates the special skills and talents its veteran employees bring to the company as a result of their military service, including their leadership and management acumen, and continuously seeks additional veteran job candidates for its more than 250 positions across 13 states.
