“I am excited to bring on board new team members to help more colleges and universities realize how solutions from SkillSurvey will help them obtain insights about competence, future performance and career readiness.” Jake Burke, Vice President of Sales for Higher Education, SkillSurvey

Today, SkillSurvey announced that it has expanded its higher education team to meet the tremendous growth among higher education institutions using its cloud-based reference checking and sourcing solutions to improve their hiring and its career readiness solution to assess students’ skills for the workplace. The number of institutions using SkillSurvey Reference® has doubled in the past 18 months to more than 130, and the number of schools in the newly minted SkillSurvey Career Readiness™ founding members program has topped 110.

Jake Burke has been named Vice President of Sales for Higher Education and has recently hired two new colleagues to join his team: Katherine West-Wanga who has worked in higher ed technology for over 12 years, most recently for Starfish Retention Solutions and Blackboard and Chris Offield who has more than 10 years of sales experience within higher education and is currently an active member of Member of the Cooperative Education and Internship Association CEIA, while also serving as the Chair of the Exhibitors & Sponsors Committee for the 2020 conference.

In the first nine months of 2019 higher education institutions have conducted references on 45 percent more job candidates and reached 4.74 references per candidate using SkillSurvey Reference. Since launching its initial phases in Fall 2018, SkillSurvey Career Readiness has captured and analyzed feedback on college students from over 23,200 evaluators (supervisors/coworkers) at 2,800 companies on 28-30 work behaviors exhibited during an internship or student employment.

SkillSurvey Reference helps institutions improve their hiring decisions by obtaining critical data on soft skills for the individuals they’re considering for employment. The solution helps improve compliance as the process has proven to be free from bias and is job specific which also aids in compliance with EEOC statutes. SkillSurvey Career Readiness provides comprehensive data on student’s “career-ready” NACE competency levels as compared to thousands of students and entry-level employees in a first-of-its-kind Career Readiness Report.

“We continue to experience tremendous interest from institutions of every type and size,” said Jake Burke, Vice President of Sales for Higher Education at SkillSurvey. “I am excited to bring on board new team members to help more colleges and universities realize how solutions from SkillSurvey will help them obtain insights about competence, future performance and career readiness.”

Whether conducting a reference check or a career readiness evaluation, it takes under a minute to initiate a request for information via the SkillSurvey platform. Given the mobile accessibility features of the solution, job candidates, references, students and evaluators can respond using any mobile device. And while the majority of individuals completed the process in English, each of the additional 6 languages available within the platform have been used by higher education institutions this year. SkillSurvey is among few HR Tech adopters and the only online reference solution to conform with best practices and standards as defined by level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 guidelines.

SkillSurvey is demonstrating its solutions at booth number 110 at the CUPA HR Annual Conference and Expo taking place October 20-22, 2019 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.
