Though Breast Cancer Awareness Month is now over, author Sherry Kay Thompson continues spreading awareness through her new memoir, “It's My Fault: My Journey through Breast Cancer” (published by WestBow Press).

“My journey has been unique because I was diagnosed with pre-cancer,” says Thompson. “I hope it inspires people to fight for proper healthcare and to live life to the fullest!”

When doctors told Thompson, “You don’t have cancer, but we need to remove your breasts,” she felt her world spiral out of control. To help herself cope, she decided to keep a journal, detailing her feelings of denial, anger and finally acceptance. Through her journaling, Thompson was able to overcome the negativity and find the courage to live and love life again.

Thompson hopes her story brings comfort and encouragement to other women and their families dealing with the devastating effects of breast cancer. She reminds her readers, “No matter what life throws your way you can get through it with the help of friends, family and love.”
