SnoopWall CEO Says New Study Shows Need For Vigilant Cyber Security Efforts
WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) March 29, 2016 -- Crowd Research Partners, in conjunction with SnoopWall Inc. and other leading data-security vendors, released today the results of its 2016 BYOD and Mobile Security Report that reveals the growing risk of data breaches.
The 38-page report provides a conflicting portrayal of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) security barriers and adoption trends in the workplace.
The report also shows that one in five organizations suffered a mobile-security breach, primarily driven by malware and malicious WiFi. Security threats to BYOD impose heavy burdens on organizations’ IT resources and helpdesk workloads.
BYOD is the practice of allowing employees to use their own computers, smartphones and other devices for work.
“With mobility security breaches on the rise as outlined in the 2016 BYOD and Mobile Security Report, it is more important than ever to recognize that in today’s dynamic data environment confidential information can end up anywhere,” says Gary Miliefsky, CEO of SnoopWall (snoopwall.com), the world’s leading breach prevention and intranet mobile security company.
“Organizations that use SnoopWall to protect devices from new threats are able to solve the two most difficult security challenges in their organizations –- malicious insider risk and roaming, personally owned unmanaged mobile devices.”
The 2016 BYOD and Mobile Security Report was based on a survey of more than 800 global cyber security professionals who are members of the 300,000-member Information Security Community on LinkedIn.
Key BYOD and mobile security trends that surfaced from the study include:
• Security (39 percent) and employee privacy (12 percent) are the biggest inhibitors of BYOD adoption. In contrast, management opposition (3 percent) and user experience concerns (4 percent) rank far lower.
• Security threats to BYOD impose heavy burdens on organizations’ IT resources (35 percent) and helpdesk workloads (27 percent).
• Despite increasing mobile security threats, data breaches and new regulations, only 30 percent of organizations are increasing security budgets for BYOD in the next 12 months. Meanwhile, 37 percent have no plans to change their security budgets.
Findings from the report will be discussed in a live webinar titled “Top 5 BYOD & Mobile Security Trends in 2016.” The webinar will be at http://www.brighttalk.com on April 14 at noon ET (9 a.m. PT and 5 p.m. GMT).
