Company Honored for Support of National Public Health Education Campaign

The nonprofit Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) has announced its formal recognition of global life-sciences and material-sciences leader DSM as a Visionary Partner, the highest donor level, within SNP’s Chairman’s Campaign Circle. This honor acknowledges DSM’s significant contributions in support of SNP’s upcoming national public health education campaign, which launches in October 2015 as an effort to build awareness about the essential nutritional benefits of omega-3 from eating seafood at least twice a week or supplementing where appropriate.

“As part of our science-based approach to nutrition, we understand how important it is to communicate the health benefits of essential nutrients such as vitamins, carotenoids and lipids from seafood nutrition and a healthy diet, as well as through supplementation and fortification where required,” said Hugh Welsh, President of DSM North America. “This is why we are proud to support Seafood Nutrition Partnership in its campaign to educate the public on this vital issue.”

“We are honored that DSM is providing an extraordinary level of support in our effort to address the public health crisis in the U.S., where 70% of deaths are from preventable diseases,” said Linda Cornish, executive director of Seafood Nutrition Partnership. “The USDA HHS dietary guidelines recommend eating seafood twice a week for optimal health, yet only 1 in 10 Americans follow this advice. Together with DSM, we hope to inspire a healthier America by promoting a nutrient-rich diet that includes seafood.”
