TrustPoint International Successfully Completes SOC 2 Type 2 Examination
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- TrustPoint International, a leader in the delivery of legal technologies and services to law firms, corporations and governments, today announced it has successfully completed its AICPA Service Organization Control 2 (SOC 2) Type 2 Examination. The examination conducted by A-lign™ Security and Compliance Services, an independent accounting and auditing firm, evaluated company processes for security, confidentiality and privacy of data analytics and archive services for the period May 1, 2013, through October 31, 2013, with final commentary and conclusion of the examination period occurring in January 2014.
The SOC 2 Type 2 Examination is an evaluation of TrustPoint International controls, processes and procedures relevant to the security, confidentiality and privacy of data processed for its clients. Client corporations and law firms with certification and compliance requirements may now leverage TrustPoint International’s SOC 2 Type 2 Examination Report as part of their compliance strategy and documentation.
“The security, confidentiality and privacy of client data is a top priority for us,” shared Mark Hawn, Chief Executive Officer of TrustPoint International. "This examination provides an objective view on the proven effectiveness of the data processing controls for our data analytics and archive services and enables us to meet with confidence the increasingly stringent data compliance needs of our clients."
A SOC 2 examination is performed in accordance with AT Section 101, Attest Engagements (AICPA, Professional Standards). SOC 2 is designated as an acceptable method for a service organization such as TrustPoint International to obtain assurance about internal controls over security, confidentiality, and privacy without conducting additional assessments.
A SOC 2 examination is the replacement for the now defunct SAS 70 examination and is widely recognized because it represents that a service organization has been through an evaluation of control activities as they relate to the applicable Trust Services Principles and Criteria. A Type 2 report not only includes the service organization’s system description, but includes information on the design and operational effectiveness of the service organization’s controls. It is estimated that only 14% of data centers nationally achieved this prestigious certification in 2013.
