Numero Uno Web Solutions (NumeroUnoWeb.com), a fast-growing global Internet marketing firm that caters to small- and mid-size business-to-consumer companies, releases an expert opinion on a study showing that 50% of companies struggling with search engine optimization (SEO) aren’t integrating social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
A study recently published by Ascend2 reveals that companies with the most successful SEO campaigns are focused on increasing conversions, while those businesses that say simply driving traffic is their primary objective are the least successful. Those firms with successful online marketing strategies also said creating original content is the most effective SEO tactic. “The study found that the biggest difference between those who say their SEO campaigns are ‘very successful’ and those who are ‘not successful’ is their use of social media,” says Nadia Iaboni, digital solutions manager at Numero Uno Web Solutions. “More than one-third [38%] of those ‘very successful’ with SEO consistently integrate social media, compared to only two percent of companies that are not succeeding with SEO. On top of that, half of those not succeeding at SEO are not integrating social media at all.”
The point of SEO, Iaboni explains, is for businesses to rank as high as possible on search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing, and to get online users to click through to their web sites. Social media content ranks well on search engines.
With about two-thirds of the online search market, Google continues to be the search engine online users trust, Iaboni adds. Brands that turn up on the first page of a Google search receive more than 90% of all traffic, while those that turn up on the second page receive less than five percent. Ultimately, if a business doesn’t turn up on the first page of organic search results on Google, the odds of their web site getting discovered is pretty remote. “Weaving social media into an SEO campaign can help transform a small business’ online marketing efforts. In fact, smaller businesses can get the best results by integrating social media proven SEO strategies” Iaboni concludes. “After all, Google doesn’t care how big a company is; it’s only concerned about how effectively firms implement effective SEO strategies.”
