Two Accreditations for the Newgrange School - Leader Among Schools for Learning Disabilities
Hamilton, New Jersey (PRWEB) October 29, 2015 -- The Newgrange School, one of the nation's leading schools for learning disabilities, is now accredited by the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools (NJAIS) and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA-CESS). After the winter break, the school will have maintained both accreditations for a full year. Both agencies also accredited the Laurel School of Princeton, Newgrange's sister school, and the Ann Robinowitz Education Center, which specializes in student reading evaluations and assessments used in the detection of learning disabilities and tutoring.
The Newgrange School, active for 36 years, is a private, non-profit special education school that is approved by the New Jersey Department of Education for its development of children with disabilities. "The Newgrange School is much more than a school," said the school's principal, Bob Hegedus. "With individually targeted education programs, we help challenged students gain the skills and confidence necessary to empower them as adults."
The NJAIS is a non-profit, voluntary membership association that promotes the professional, ethical, and educational prowess of its member schools while ensuring the independence of each. With 81 schools and over 29 thousand students, NJAIS administers a rigorous accreditation program that promotes the ongoing improvement of member schools. In addition to providing professional development of teachers and administrators, the association advocates for member schools at national, state, and local levels.
The MSA-CESS accredits schools and institutions that teach students from early childhood through post-secondary levels, as well as non-degree-granting private, public, and faith-based schools. It also offers accreditation to supplemental education centers, special purpose and distance education schools, and learning service providers. Historically based in the mid-Atlantic region, MSA-CESS accredits schools and institutions throughout the United States and member institutions in more than 85 countries.
The Newgrange School specializes in Asperger's, autism spectrum, and dyslexia, among other non-verbal learning disabilities. The Newgrange staff, including two Ph.D. science teachers, enhances the school's multi-sensory learning approach with the use of laptops, smart boards, and reading programs. These efforts include the Orton Gillingham and Wilson Reading System® to build cognitive skills.
Students are taught in a family environment. All receive intense one-on-one attention, with special efforts used to determine and capitalize on the learning style of each child.
