Spectramed Releases Guardian Unity

A developer of continuing education and rehabilitation products focused on dysphagia rehabilitation (swallowing disorders), today announced the release of Unity™, a two channel neuro-muscular stimulation device designed specifically for the treatment and rehabilitation of the swallowing musculature. Unity is the first stimulator that combines both Guardian Dysphagia Therapy® & VitalStim® Therapy.

"Our goal was to combine 2 different therapies into one device - optimizing therapy time without compromising on outcomes is always the goal. Unity provides options and gives therapist the power of choice,” said Richard Fisher President

Guardian dysphagia therapy treatments last 30 minutes and are performed usually in a rehab clinic by a certified Speech Language Pathologist. Therapy is performed utilizing neuro-muscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to promote improved strength, timing, and reeducation of muscles used for swallowing.

“We are especially excited to release Unity because it is a unique device that combines two different clinical philosophies into one tool. It’s exciting because I know our partners and their patients will greatly benefit from our new family of American Made devices," said Vice-President of Sales, Matt Favazzo
