With limited college spots and scholarships available, student athletes often need support and guidance during the college and career planning process. SPIRE’s approach to college preparation has proven consistently effective, resulting in a 100% success rate—with some eventually going on to have successful professional careers.

“We have been fortunate to have had many talented student athletes come through our doors year after year,” said Brian Oliver, SPIRE Director of Admissions. “These students have gone to schools like Rutgers, UVA, and Penn State—just to name a few,” he said. “They have also gone on to The Olympic Games, The Final Four and the NBA.”

According to Oliver, SPIRE believes that the college and career process is one of the most important aspects of Academy life—and the earlier that process is started, the better. “Our mission for the College Preparation Program is to find the best possible college fit for every student based on their individual passion and academic levels,” said Oliver. “At SPIRE, one of our goals is to create independence through training the student athlete to be responsible for their game and their education in order to ensure that they are as college-ready as possible.”

Student athletes and their parents report that the college placement process can be intimidating without clear direction and a solid plan, especially for international students who are not familiar with the strict National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) requirements and rules. SPIRE has a college planning and placement team who, together with the Academy’s coaches, are prepared to lead and guide students through the process and give everyone the best opportunity to make the right decision for them.
