SportsSignup, Freihofer’s Run Participants Donate More than $11,000 to Melodies Center at Albany Med
Saratoga Springs, New York (PRWEB) June 09, 2014 -- SportsSignup, (http://www.sportssignup.com/) a national leader in online sports management solutions for sports organizations, and participants in the 36th annual Freihofer’s Run for Women together raised more than $11,000 for the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Albany Medical Center.
Jodi Murphy, marketing director for SportsSignup, handed a symbolic check to Dr. Vikramjit Kanwar, director of the Melodies Center, prior to the start of Saturday’s 4th Annual Freihofer’s Junior 3K Run presented by SportsSignup. “Your hard work to get here today is helping the Melodies Center provide important medical care to kids like you who need it, so give yourselves a round of applause,” she said to the young runners as she presented the check.
SportsSignup, which manages online registrations for the Freihofer’s Run for Women, offered race participants an opportunity to make secure voluntary donations online to the Melodies Center, a part of the Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Med. SportsSignup matched those donations dollar-for-dollar, and provided an additional $10 donation for every registrant in the Freihofer’s Junior 3K Run presented by SportsSignup. In addition, all runners who donated $25 or more were given a free runners hat, compliments of SportsSignup.
“We are proud to support the great work Dr. Kanwar and his team at the Melodies Center is doing on behalf of seriously ill children and their families,” said SportsSignup CEO Anthony Bruno, whose daughter, Isabella, is a Melodies Center patient. “The Melodies Center is a tremendous resource for the Capital Region, and it’s wonderful to see so many participants in the Freihofer’s Run for Women support the Melodies Center in its mission.”
Freihofer’s Run for Women participants this year contributed nearly $5,300.
In the three years since SportsSignup became the presenting sponsor of the Freihofer’s Junior 3K and created a charitable partnership with the Melodies Center, race participants and the company have donated more than $35,000 to the Melodies Center.
