The tastiest way to a baked potato in half the time can be found running a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with the hopes of raising $58,000. The Spud Spikes Baked Potato System includes six-inch food-grade stainless steel potato nails along with Gourmet Potato Skin Rubs and Everyday Seasonings that give potatoes a pop of flavor. To use the potato skin rubs, the cook simply sprays the potato with olive oil, and coats the entire spud with the rub before baking, grilling, or barbecuing to deliver a zesty, crispy potato skin.

The Everyday Seasonings also add bold flavor to sausages, steaks, chicken, corn on the cob, grilled asparagus, zucchini, and a myriad of other vegetables. The seasonings are iodine-, gluten-, and fat-free and contain no MSG, preservatives, artificial flavors, or colors. During the ongoing crowdfunding campaign, backers can get their hands on all three of the unique seasoning rubs; Original, Pepper, and Garlic. Each of the rubs includes sea salt and select spices that offer amazing flavor and texture. Pepper takes the heat up a notch while garlic adds that extra kick.

“Many people only think to put toppings on the inside of the potato,” states Leon Frechette, creator of Spud Spikes. “Yet, the potato skin is where most of the vitamins and nutrients are. With the Spud Spikes Everyday Seasoning Rubs, the potato skin can now be crispy, delicious, and good for you.”

Using the Spud Spikes nails is also easy; insert the spike, lengthwise, into the potato before seasoning. Heat is conducted from both sides of the nail which transfers throughout the potato so that it cooks faster. The delicious result is a potato baked to perfection that is crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Unlike common nails available at hardware stores, which are made of aluminum and can seep metallic properties into foods, Spud Spikes are made from food-grade stainless steel while being long enough for even the largest of potatoes.

The Spud Spikes Kickstarter campaign is seeking to crowdfund $58,000 towards manufacturing of Spud Spikes and the Everyday Seasoning Rubs, as well as new packaging and labeling for both products and they’re looking for support from those interested in creating the perfect baked potato.
