"The Seattle Sperm Bank sought AATB accreditation because it reinforces our commitment to establishment and maintenance of a quality program leading to excellence in performance of tissue banking functions."
Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) November 10, 2014
The Seattle Sperm Bank (European Sperm Bank USA) has been awarded the prestigious accreditation of the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), it was announced today by Greg Moga, CEO.
Accreditation follows an intensive nine-month process, including an on-site inspection by an independent inspector. The accreditation process establishes the institution meets or exceeds standards and policies established by the AATB. By successfully meeting requirements, the Seattle Sperm Bank joins more than 100 institutions across the United States and abroad that have earned AATB accreditation.
The American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) is a professional, non-profit, scientific and educational organization, and has accredited tissue banks since 1986. It is the only national tissue banking organization in the United States, and its membership totals more than 125 accredited tissue banks and 650 individual members. These institutions recover tissue from more than 30,000 donors and distribute in excess of two million allografts for more than one million tissue transplants performed annually in the U.S. More than 90 percent of human tissue distributed for these transplants comes from MTS-accredited tissue banks.
Accreditation is based upon compliance to AATB's Standards for Tissue Banking (Standards) and to the Accreditation Policies for Transplant Tissue Banks. "Seeking accreditation by AATB is voluntary,” CEO Greg Moga explained. "The Seattle Sperm Bank sought AATB accreditation because it reinforces our commitment to establishment and maintenance of a quality program leading to excellence in performance of tissue banking functions."
Obtaining AATB accreditation demonstrates an organization's commitment to the highest standards and service excellence. AATB-accredited organizations are recognized as leaders in their field and as pivotal voices in the dialogue through which consensus-based, voluntary standards are developed and implemented.
