St. Louis Spirits Gymnastics Club Hosts Annual Jungle Jam
St. Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) March 17, 2015 -- For over 20 years, St. Louis Spirits Gymnastics Club has been hosting the Jungle Jam, a pre-school gymnastics performance show that features 60 participants this year. This year, children from the toddler gymnastics classes will also be participating. Called the Tumbling Tigers, these are gymnasts in the two to five age-range. The Tumbling Tigers began training for their performance in January.
"The Tumbling Tigers Director, Ms. Tasha, has been preparing for this show for months. It takes a lot of time to write all the routines and teach each one to the coaches who can then pass on the steps to the kids. It's a lot of organization and cooperation from all involved -- but it all comes together successfully in the end and everyone feels great after the show," explained owner Kris Rogers.
The Tumbling Tigers will be performing individually with bar, balance beam, and floor routines. Following individual performances, they will perform a short choreographed routine to the song "I Just Can't Wait to be King" from the Lion King.
Following the Tumbling Tigers' performance, the older kids of the Free Spirits dance team will perform their own choreographed set, allowing coaches and staff to prepare the awards and podium. Every child who wins an award will be asked to stand on the podium just like professional gymnasts so that they can feel proud of their hard work.
In addition to being a performance, the Jungle Jam encourages shy children to gain confidence, and helps children set goals for themselves. In preparation for the show, the gymnasts will learn patience, sequencing, concentration, and time management. All of these skills are a part of reading readiness. All of the activities in the Tumbling Tigers program are geared towards the children hitting age appropriate physical, mental and social milestones and getting them ready for kindergarten success!
"This is a great chance for the students to show off everything they've been working on in class and it's a great opportunity for family and friends to come cheer them on and see what gymnastics is all about," Rogers stated.
The show will be held early in the afternoon on April 4th, 2015.
