Admissions Open for October 2013 Cohort of DBA Programme in the Middle East
Dubai, UAE (PRWEB) September 24, 2013 -- Professionals in the Middle East and Levant planning to make a career in the teaching of business administration and consultancy can enrol for Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) October, 2013 cohort of Nottingham Business School. Along with this, students may also apply for the scholarship worth GBP 9,600* granted by Nottingham Trent University in association with Stafford.
DBA is a research-oriented programme designed to develop personal, intellectual and academic abilities of participants. The programme focuses on managerial and professional practice, including the rigorous study of work-based problems and their solutions. Being a professional doctorate, the programme has the dual aim of contributing to both knowledge and practice.
The research project is segregated into sequential documents, which are each assessed on completion, ensuring that students receive frequent summative feedback. The programme provides students with broad competence in management research. They need to use qualitative research while working on document 3 and quantitative research when preparing document 4. They are free to choose research methods when answering questions for document 5.
The students are provided with steady support throughout the programme. Research method workshops are organised at appropriate points in the programme to assist students to develop the necessary capabilities for each stage of the project. There are two supervisors – one at the regional headquarters in Dubai and the other at Nottingham Business School – to guide students in the research. Four documents submitted by students are assessed by supervisors, while the assessment of the last two is done by independent internal and external assessors in a viva voce examination.
Students who are not able to complete the final thesis of 30,000 words may exit the programme with a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) if other requirements have been met. Applicants for the doctorate programme require an MPhil, MBA or other Master level degree in the field of business management or organisational studies. Full details about the doctorate are available on the Stafford website.
