In an Interview with Bedros Keuilian, Jason Ferruggia Explains 3 Things He Would Do Differently If Just Starting a Fitness Business
Chino Hills, CA (PRWEB) June 27, 2014 -- Jason Ferruggia and Bedros Keuilian have both earned international respect and multi-million dollar incomes in the fitness industry, Ferruggia as a strength coach and Keuilian as a fitness marketing expert and CEO of the globally-franchised Fit Body Boot Camps. In a recent interview together, Ferruggia explained that, despite his huge successes, if he were starting a fitness business today, he would do some things very differently.
“I’ve been successful far beyond anything I ever dreamed or intended, but it took me twenty years to make it happen,” he explained to Keuilian. “Today, I would approach things very differently and be able to get to this point much faster and without working incredible hours for so long.”
Ferruggia says the first thing he would change is he would forgo one-on-one training for group training, something it took him more than ten years to do. “I was in the gym twelve hours a day during the week and half a day on Saturday, every week for years. I made great money, but I had no life.”
It was Keuilian’s transition from personal training to starting a fitness boot camp that turned the tide in his own career, so he easily understands the difference it made in both income and quality of life for Ferruggia. Now Keuilian’s fitness boot camp has over 1500 franchise locations and he spends most of his time teaching others how to finance a better lifestyle without sacrificing their time to live it.
The second thing Ferruggia says he would change if he were just starting a fitness business is that he would hire an executive assistant much sooner. “For years, I was doing everything from cleaning the bathroom to doing the training to handling all of the marketing for my company,” he says. “I spent so much time maintaining my business that I didn’t have enough time to grow my business.”
Once he hired an assistant, Ferruggia was free from administrative tasks and able to devote more of his energy to expanding his operations and developing more income streams. But he said that once his income increased exponentially, he still had to learn to reserve time for living, which brought him to the third thing he would change.
“Now I know that I need to schedule time for life just like I schedule time for my business. By making a lunch appointment with colleagues and friends three times a week, I get socialization but I also get a great deal of motivation related to my work,” he explains. “By setting a certain block of time aside for surfing, I get out of my own head, clear my thoughts and keep myself from burning out.”
While Ferruggia and Keuilian both admit that starting a fitness business requires long hours of hard work in the beginning, they agree that these three tips could make things much easier, and success far quicker, for new entrepreneurs.
