Hamilton Scientific is pleased to announce that along with partners, Haldeman-Homme (Laboratory Consultant), SmithGroup JJR (Architect) and J.E. Dunn (General Contractor), they were awarded the coveted 2014 "Laboratory of the Year" Award by R&D Magazine for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of Golden, Colorado.

Hamilton Scientific Concept fume hoods, Inset Steel casework, MAX Island cores with adjustable height tables, MAX Wall rails and shelves, and Epoxy resin work surfaces were selected to meet the critical design criteria for NREL’s innovative lab renovation.

NREL focuses on energy analysis, validates new products for the commercial market and provides sustainable alternatives for powering homes, businesses, and transportation systems. With a budget of $1.1 million, the design team for this renovation used new and emerging sustainable practices and creative ideas for the design, construction and operation of this 182,500 S.F. modern laboratory.

According to Susan Speicher, Business Development and Architectural Design Specialist at Hamilton Scientific, “The Laboratory of the Year competition evaluates laboratory facilities on lab planning and design, flow, plant operations, aesthetics, energy efficiency, sustainability, cost, and more. The judging panel consists of architects, lab planners, construction project managers, a vendor representative from SEFA (Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association, co-sponsor of the Laboratory of the Year competition), and the editors of R&D Magazine and Laboratory Design Newsletter.”
