Author Stephan Luccas told a compelling tale of overcoming adversity in his 2014 debut fiction, “Living through Their Dreams” (published by AuthorHouse). This year, his book will be featured at the LA Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California April 18-19.
In just 50 pages, Luccas introduces readers to protagonist Pamela and delves into an exploration of her desires and motivations. Growing up in a constant state of disapproval and self-doubt, Pamela attempts to reach her goals but becomes overwhelmed and begins to disappear within herself.
Although she tries to avoid confronting reality, Pamela eventually has to recognize her internal conflicts. Reflecting honestly on her life, she becomes aware that there are things she has to accept. She focuses on believing in herself, and her new understanding guides her toward a brighter future filled with exciting endeavors.
An excerpt from “Living through Their Dreams”:
“Both fighters came out moving, circling the ring and sizing each other up. They began swinging, though neither one of them connected. Quickly dropping back on her right foot, Pamela snapped forward, shooting out several repeated blows. She landed one, two, three, and four punches to the face of her opponent. Then, as if for good measure, she landed two shots to the woman’s body.”
