Children Living with Diabetes Recognized at “One Shot Away” Event in Dallas
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- In coordination with the Dallas Mavericks and the North Texas Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, MED-CARE Diabetic & Medical Supplies, Inc. hosted “One Shot Away,” a special event held on November 22, 2013 that recognized children living with diabetes and hope for a cure.
As part of the event, 50 area children and their families attended a Dallas Mavericks game, courtesy of MED-CARE. Each attendee received a “One Shot Away” t-shirt and the children had the opportunity to make a shot on the basketball court after the game. The children and families who attended “One Shot Away” were recognized for their contributions and support of the American Diabetes Association’s School Walk to Stop Diabetes, an educational fundraiser that promotes healthy lifestyles, research advocacy and education efforts.
MED-CARE also donated one-year of diabetic supplies to 200 children without insurance. The supplies will be distributed by the American Diabetes Association to school nurses in North Texas.
“This event was a wonderful day to recognize children who are living with diabetes and bring awareness to a disease that impacts more than six million children in the U.S.,” said Steven Silverman, founder and CEO of MED-CARE. “With further research, we are one shot away from a cure.”
