Internationally Renowned St. Olaf Christmas Festival Accessible to General Public for First Time Through Live Video Stream
Northfield, Minn. (PRWEB) November 12, 2016 -- Students from St. Olaf College are preparing once again to present the extraordinary annual St. Olaf Christmas Festival, which will be held December 1-4, 2016, in Northfield, Minnesota. The theme of the 2016 festival is “Light Dawns, Hope Blooms.” Tickets to the highly anticipated concerts are limited and in high demand, but this year the St. Olaf Christmas Festival concert will be available through a live concert stream online.
The St. Olaf Christmas Festival, first held in 1912, is one of the oldest musical celebrations of Christmas in the United States. The festival features more than 500 student musicians who are members of five choirs and the St. Olaf Orchestra.
A live stream of the St. Olaf Christmas Festival will be available on computers, tablets, and mobile devices for the 3 p.m. concert on Sunday, December 4. The concert live stream can be purchased online for $12.99 through November 27, or for $14.99 from November 28 through December 3. Downloadable video and audio of the concert can also be pre-ordered. The content will be available to download on December 14.
“The St. Olaf Christmas Festival is a musical celebration of rich heritage and legacy that our college is honored to produce,” said Anton Armstrong, Tosdal Professor of Music at St. Olaf College. “We are thrilled to make the festival accessible to the public at-large through our first live stream of the concert, and hope that listeners from around the world tune in to share in the joy of our music and the hope of the Christmas Festival.”
The festival’s four performances feature classic Advent and Christmas compositions, familiar carols, hymns from around the world, and contemporary pieces from a diverse range of composers and cultures. The music is chosen to provide messages of hope and peace.
The St. Olaf Christmas Festival is also regularly broadcast nationwide on PBS and American Public Media.
