Airfare from StorageMart Gives Lift to Canadians Who Go the Extra Mile
Columbia, MO (PRWEB) May 02, 2016 -- People who “go the extra mile” are the difference between a ho-hum town and a city that sparkles. “People who put service over self make the difference in the places we call home and StorageMart is thrilled to be able to recognize these community heroes,” said Cris Burnam, President of StorageMart storage centre.
On April 1st, StorageMart launched a social media contest to find individuals who have gone above and beyond in serving their communities. When the contest ended, four Canadians in Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto received the news they had won 20,000 AIR MILES® reward miles each. In total, StorageMart awarded 93,000 Air Miles to winners and runners up.
Paola Migliozzi was flabbergasted at the news. “This will make my children so happy, especially my younger son who just recently asked me why he was the only one in the family that had not been on a trip on a plane yet. Well, now his wish will come true and I will be able to take him to Disney World in Florida sooner rather than later,” said Migliozzi, who is a Toronto mother of two autistic sons and is a champion fundraiser for autism research.
Jenn Morrison was equally elated. “You have no idea what this is going to mean to my daughter. We are going to use the miles toward a trip to visit one of her very best friends in Winnipeg who also suffers from a rare condition.” Jenn and her husband Shawn have to give their daughter a nightly infusion of life-saving chelation therapy that runs over 12 hours to rid her body of toxic levels of iron accumulated from her monthly transfusions over the last 7 years. The family still finds time to support their local hospital in London, ON and the Make A Wish Foundation.
Daniel Kasznia is the next door neighbor in Toronto that everyone is glad to have in their community. “He’s a natural saint,” said Monika Buna, who nominated him for his tireless efforts to serve others around him. He was offered a position to manage a fire and safety company in Dubai and has demonstrated the same excellence at work and spirit to his overseas neighbors. “If anyone deserves some miles for being a great person then it would be him so he can come back to see his own family. This would be a great reward for all the hard work, dedication and love he spreads all over the world,” said Buna.
John Tonner is a hip hop artist in Edmonton whose music is a method to help those in need. “Whether he is performing for fundraisers for Stollery Children’s Hospital, running social media campaigns for the poor, or reaching into his own pocket, John is an inspiration to others,” said Roni Gauthier, who was proud to nominate him. “John’s not a talker but a man of action and is looking to open a non-profit organization to help those less fortunate in Edmonton’s inner city,” Gauthier said.
