Stryker Hip Lawsuits
Court documents indicate that just over 300 Stryker hip lawsuits have been filed in the New Jersey litigation, while nearly 200 additional claims are pending in the federal multidistrict litigation in Minnesota. All of the lawsuits allege that the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems were defectively designed, and shed excessive amounts of metal debris that caused recipients to suffer serious and debilitating complications, including metallosis, necrosis, osteolysis, and failure of the hip implant.
The Stryker hip recall was announced in July 2012, after the Rejuvenate and ABG II stems were found to be prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular-neck junction. This action can generate large amounts of toxic metal ions, which puts recipients at risk for pain, swelling and adverse local tissue reactions. Stryker has advised all individuals fitted with these components to undergo blood testing and cross sectional imaging, regardless of their symptoms, to ensure the hips are functioning properly.*
Recipients of Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems who experienced serious injuries allegedly related to the Stryker hip recall may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
