Stryker Hip Lawsuits Continue to Mount as Claims in New Jersey Stryker Hip Recall Litigation Approach 400, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.strykerhiprecall.net/) filed in the wake of last year’s recall for Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stems continue to mount in courts around the country, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to court documents, 382 Stryker hip recall claims are now pending in a multicounty litigation underway in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court. All of the Stryker lawsuits pending in this proceeding were filed on behalf of individualsalleged to have suffered serious complications, including metallosis, necrosis, osteolysis, and failure of the hip, as a result of toxic metal debris shed from Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems. (In Re Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Stem and the ABG II Modular Hip Stem Litigation, No. 296)
“Prior to the announcement of the Stryker hip recall in July 2012, more than 20,000 Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems were sold globally. It’s not at all surprising that the number of Stryker lawsuits filed in New Jersey is quickly approaching 400,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free Stryker lawsuit evaluations to individuals who have suffered serious complications, allegedly due to the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.
Stryker Hip Recall
Stryker announced the worldwide recall of Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems after the company determined that the metal components were prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular-neck junction. At the time, Stryker warned that patients fitted with the Rejuvenate and ABG II devices could be at risk for pain, swelling and adverse local tissue reactions which may require revision surgery to replace the failing hip. Since issuing the initial Stryker recall notice, the company has advised all affected patients to undergo medical screening, even if their hips appeared to be performing normally.*
In addition to the multicounty litigation underway in New Jersey, scores of additional Stryker hip lawsuits involving similar allegations have been filed in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. Court records indicate that at least 198 Stryker recall claims are now pending in that proceeding. (In re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2441)
Hip replacement patients who have experienced serious complications allegedly related to fretting and corrosion of Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems may be eligible to file a Stryker hip lawsuit seeking compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
