We are representing numerous Stryker hip recall clients in the New Jersey proceeding, many of whom have undergone painful revision surgery to have their hip implants removed and replaced. We look forward to additional progress in this litigation.
New York, new York (PRWEB) October 05, 2013
A multicounty litigation established in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court for Stryker hip lawsuits ( http://www.strykerhiprecall.net/) involving recalled Rejuvenate and ABG Modular-Neck Hip Stems is continuing to move forward, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to Court Documents, the litigation’s next Case Management Conference is scheduled for October 23, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. More than 380 claims are pending in the New Jersey Stryker hip recall litigation, all of which allege the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems caused recipients to suffer metallosis, necrosis, osteolysis, and other complications that can result in failure of the artificial hip. “We are representing numerous Stryker hip recall clients in the New Jersey proceeding, many of whom have undergone painful revision surgery to have their hip implants removed and replaced. We look forward to additional progress in this litigation,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free Stryker hip lawsuit evaluations to individuals who have suffered serious complications, allegedly due to the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.
Stryker Hip Recall
The worldwide Stryker hip recall was announced in July 2012, after data revealed that the Rejuvenate and ABG II metal hip stems were subject to a high rate of fretting and corrosion at the modular neck junction. Stryker has advised all Rejuvenate and ABG II recipients to see their doctors for medical screening regardless of the presence of symptoms such as pain and swelling. According to the company, some patients fitted with these components have tested positive for excessive levels of metal ions in their blood and/or developed adverse local tissue reactions, even though they reported no symptoms.*
According to court documents, more than 600 Stryker hip lawsuits have been filed in courts around the country since the Rejuvenate and ABG II stems were pulled off the market. In addition to the claims pending in New Jersey, 290 Stryker hip lawsuits involving similar allegations have been filed in a federal multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. That proceeding’s next Status Conference is scheduled for November 21, 2013. (In re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2441)
Individuals affected by the Stryker hip recall may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering if they developed complications allegedly due to the recalled Rejuvenate and ABG II components.
