We are pleased to see further progress,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. Stryker Hip Recall
Court documents indicate that more than 950 Stryker hip lawsuits are currently pending in Bergen County Superior Court. All of the claims similarly allege that plaintiffs suffered serious and debilitating complications due to fretting and corrosion of Stryker’s Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems. The lawsuits further allege that many of those affected by the Stryker hip recall continue to suffer permanent pain and disability, despite having undergone revision surgery to remove and replace their hip implant.
In addition to the complaints that have been filed in New Jersey, more than 600 Stryker hip lawsuits that involve the same types of allegations are pending in the federal multidistrict litigation underway in the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. (In re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2441)
Stryker recalled Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems in July 2012, after the metal hip components were found to be prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular neck stem. Stryker has recommended patients who received these hip stems undergo medical screening to ensure their hip stems are functioning properly, even if they have not experienced any symptoms related to a failing hip implant.*
Individuals who allegedly suffered serious complications due to Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.
