Stryker Hip Recall Litigation Grows, as Fillings in New Jersey Superior Court Surpass 950, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 07, 2014 -- Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.strykerhiprecallclaims.com/ ) filed on behalf of individuals who were allegedly injured by recalled Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular Neck Hip Stems continue to move forward in a multicounty litigation underway in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to a new Case List issued by the Court on April 2, 2014, 954 Stryker hip recall claims have been filed in the proceeding. The list indicates that some 150 new lawsuits were filed in the litigation since the Court issued its last Case List in early March. “Our Firm is representing a number of Stryker hip lawsuit clients in this proceeding, and we continue to receive inquiries from others who allegedly suffered pain and disability due to Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems. We are not surprised that the litigation continues to grow,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free legal evaluations to individuals who have suffered serious complications, allegedly related to the Stryker hip recall for Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.
Stryker Hip Recall
The Stryker hip recall for Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems was announced in July 2012, after Stryker received post-market data that indicated the metal hip components were prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular-neck junction. This occurrence may place Rejuvenate and ABG recipients at risk for pain, swelling and adverse local tissue reactions that often necessitate removal of the device. Stryker has recommended anyone who received these recalled hip stems should undergo blood and imaging tests to ensure their device is functioning properly, even if they have not experienced any symptoms related to a failing hip implant.*
According to court documents, all of the Stryker hip lawsuits pending in Bergen County Superior Court similarly allege that Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems were defectively designed and manufactured, and caused recipients to suffer osteolysis, tissue necrosis, adverse local tissue reactions, and other debilitating complications. The lawsuits further allege that many affected by the Stryker hip recall continue to suffer from pain and disability, even after undergoing surgery to remove and replace their failing devices.
In addition to the claims pending in New Jersey, court documents indicate that more than 600 Stryker hip lawsuits involving Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems have been consolidated in a federal multidistrict litigation now underway in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota.
Alleged victims of complications related to the Stryker hip recall may be entitled to compensation for their injuries. Find out more about Stryker hip lawsuits at Bernstein Liebhard LLP’s website, or call 800-511-5092 to arrange for a free, no-obligation case review.
