Stryker Hip Lawsuit Filings Grow, as Claims in New Jersey Litigation Surpass 2,100 Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports
New York, New York (PRWEB) October 09, 2014 -- Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.injurybeacon.com/hip-replacement/stryker/) filed in the wake of the 2012 recall for Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stemsl continue to mount in U.S. courts, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to an updated Case List issued by New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, 2,118 cases involving the recalled hip stems had been filed in that jurisdiction as of October 2, 2014. That represents an increase of more than 50 cases since the Court issued its last update in September, when 2,064 filings were reported. “Our Firm has filed numerous Stryker hip lawsuits in the multicounty litigation underway in New Jersey, and we continue to hear from individuals who were allegedly harmed by Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems. It is not at all surprising that the number of filings continues to increase,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free legal evaluations to individuals affected by the Stryker hip recall.
Stryker Hip Recall
The Stryker hip recall was announced by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration on July 6, 2012, after it was determined that fretting and corrosion of the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems places recipients at risk for adverse local tissue reactions, pain and swelling. In addition, Stryker has recommended that all patients fitted with one of these devices undergo medical testing and imaging screening to ensure it is working properly, even if they have not experienced any symptoms that would suggest a problem with their implant.*
Since the Stryker hip recall was issued more than two years ago, court documents indicate that thousands of people have filed lawsuits seeking compensation for serious and debilitating complications allegedly caused by defective Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems. In addition to the claims pending in New Jersey, more than 1,700 lawsuits involving similar allegations have been filed in a federal multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. Individuals who were allegedly harmed by Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other injury-related damages.
