Stryker Hip Lawsuit News: Bernstein Liebhard LLP Notes Issuance of New Case Management Order in New Jersey Stryker Recall Litigation
New York, New York (PRWEB) August 16, 2013 -- Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.stryker-rejuvenate-hip-recall-lawsuit.com) alleging injuries due to recalled Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular Neck Hip Stems continue to move forward in courts throughout the U.S., Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to court records, a Case Management Order was issued on August 14th in the Multicounty Litigation underway in New Jersey Superior Court for Stryker hip recall claims. According to the Order, the Court has designated 10 Stryker lawsuits for early mediation and has directed that a formal mediation session take place no later than December 15, 2013. The Court has also scheduled the proceeding’s next Case Management Conference for September 24th at 10:30 a.m. (In Re Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Stem and the ABG II Modular Hip Stem Litigation, No. 296)
“We continue to hear from Stryker recall patients, many of whom have undergone painful revision surgeries due to complications allegedly caused by the Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular Neck Hip Stems. We are pleased to see that this litigation is making significant progress,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free Stryker lawsuit evaluations to individuals who have suffered serious complications, allegedly due to the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.
Stryker Recall
Stryker’s Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems were recalled in July 2012, after the metal components were found to be prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular neck stem. According to Stryker, this can result in pain, swelling and adverse local tissue reactions around the joint. The company has advised all hip recipients affected by the Stryker recall to undergo medical screening, including cross sectional imaging and metal ion testing, to ensure their hips are functioning properly, regardless of whether or not they are experiencing any symptoms.*
Court documents indicate that more than 300 Stryker hip lawsuits are now pending in the New Jersey proceeding. Nearly 200 similar claims have been filed in a federal multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. All of the claims allege that the metal ions shed from the fretting and corrosion of Rejuvenate and ABG II stems caused recipients to suffer serious complications, including metallosis, necrosis, osteolysis, and failure of the hip resulting in revision surgery. The federal proceeding’s Initial Conference is scheduled for September 9, 2013. (In re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2441)
