New York, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2014
More than 450 additional Stryker recall (http://strykerhiprecallclaims.com/) lawsuits have been filed in New Jersey Superior Court in less than a month, suggesting continued progress in the Bergen County litigation, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports.
A Case List posted July 8th on the Court’s website indicates that 2,051 cases over the Rejuvenate and ABG II modular-neck hip stems have now been filed in the proceeding. Plaintiffs in these cases allege similar injuries from the metal hip replacements, which were subject to a voluntary recall two years ago by Stryker Orthopaedics. Pain, swelling, and symptoms of metallosis are some of the complications that have been alleged in these lawsuits, according to court documents. “Our Firm is pleased to see the number of Stryker hip lawsuits continue to increase in New Jersey, as we continue to hear from individuals who were allegedly injured by the Rejuvenate and ABG II devices,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free and confidential case evaluations to individuals who may have been injured by the Stryker hip replacements.
Stryker Hip Lawsuits
Court documents show continued progress in New Jersey’s Stryker hip lawsuit litigation. When the state proceeding updated its records on June 18th, a total of 1,581 claims were pending in Bergen County Superior Court, compared to a few weeks later, when a Case List reflected the filing of more than 450 additional Rejuvenate and ABG II device-related cases.
All metal hip lawsuits in New Jersey similarly accuse Stryker Orthopaedics of failing to adequately warn about metal hip side effects prior to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recall on July 6, 2012 that was prompted by company knowledge that the devices may fret and corrode at the modular-neck junction. In turn, patients may experience swelling, pain and other adverse tissue reactions, Stryker said in its recall announcement. Following the recall, the company advised on its website that all Rejuvenate and ABG II hip recipients to undergo routine medical testing and cross-sectional imaging to monitor for early device failure complications.*
Stryker lawsuits are also moving forward in the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, where a federal multidistrict litigation (MDL) now includes hundreds of cases. A Case List updated on July 15th shows 1,692 similar actions over the Rejuvenate and ABG II implants. Not unlike metal hip claims filed in New Jersey, plaintiffs in these cases similarly allege chronic pain, osteolysis, tissue necrosis, metallosis and other complications stemming from the devices. Individuals who were allegedly harmed by the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems may be eligible to file their own Stryker hip lawsuit.
