STX Signs USA Field Hockey Player Jill Witmer
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) June 05, 2014 -- Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, today announced the signing of USA Field Hockey player Jill Witmer.
Per an agreement that runs through the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, Witmer will be involved in the development, feedback and testing of STX’s field hockey equipment.
“Jill is arguably the most notable college field hockey player in the last four years and before that she dominated the high school scene,” said Emily Hughes, STX Field Hockey Marketing Manager. “We are thrilled that Jill choose to align herself with STX as she competes in the World Cup. We are confident she will experience continued success as she faces international competition and her dedication to the sport will help to promote the STX brand domestically and internationally.” Currently Witmer is using the Stallion 700 as she is competing in the 2014 Hockey World Cup.
Witmer earned All-ACC Freshman of the Year honors in 2010, along with All-ACC Team in 2010, 2011, and 2012, NFHCA Second Team All-American in 2010 and 2011, and NFHCA First Team All-American in 2012. The standout forward has competed with the U-19 and U-21 Teams, traveling throughout the world, and now with the Women’s Senior National Team. Witmer will graduate from the University of Maryland this winter, after returning to College Park post world championships.
“With the start of the World Cup, I couldn’t be more excited to partner with a company that is constantly innovating to help athletes reach their peak performance,” said Witmer. “I look forward to competing internationally with STX products and I feel it is a great fit for me as I continue to pursue the next phase of my hockey career.”
Witmer joins fellow STX Athlete Katie O’Donnell as they compete for gold at the 2014 Hockey World Cup. In the team’s opening game on June 1st, Team USA upset England 2-1. The tournament, which started May 31st and ends June 15th, is being held at The Hague in the Netherlands.
