Baltimore-based STX, a global sporting goods leader, congratulates STX athlete and current Team USA Field Hockey Player Katie O’Donnell on earning 150 caps, a significant milestone.
O’Donnell, who competes with the STX Stallion 700, played in her 150th international game on March 11th against the National Canadian Squad at the Dome Arena at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. Team USA took home their second win of the four-match capped series against Canada, winning the game 4-0.
“Katie is one of the most decorated field hockey athletes in the nation, and we are extremely proud of her as she continues to achieve new accolades. Reaching 150 caps is a significant athletic landmark,” said STX Field Hockey Marketing Manager Emily Hughes. “As Katie prepares for this summer’s World Cup and the 2016 Summer Games, she inspires youth hockey players who dream of playing on the national team one day.”
O’Donnell, who represents and advises STX on field hockey products, has numerous awards that range from being College All-America to being named the Sportswoman of the Year by the Women’s Sports Foundation in 2010, a title she shares with Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, and Serena and Venus Williams. A native of Blue Bell, Pa., O’Donnell has been at the forefront of the most recent resurgence in American field hockey, having led the team to a Gold medal at the Pan Am Games in 2011 and played in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
