Detoxing is a great way to help our bodies get rid of stored toxins that can wreak havoc on one’s system, but if done incorrectly can be responsible for more harm than good. In this 4-week workshop, we will be deciphering the mysteries of detoxing, paying special attention to why detoxing is beneficial and what systems play a major role in this process.
After the 4 weeks, you will leave with a working knowledge of what processes in the body need to be functioning optimally prior to taking on a detox and how to support them to get the best results from your detoxing efforts.
Recommendations will be based on lifestyle and dietary changes to help you get started and specific herbs that are known to stimulate the body’s detoxing abilities will be provided. In order to help start your detox the right way, a 45-minute yoga class is included after the presentations to help you leave feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to take on the challenges discussed during that day’s talk.

WHAT: A comprehensive detox program starting with a talk from 5-615 p.m., followed by a 15-minute break and a 45 minute gentle yoga flow.
WHEN: Wednesdays from 5-715 p.m. on May 21 – May 28 – June 4 – June 11

-What damage toxins can do in the body?
-Problems associated to an overburden of toxins
-Some commonly found toxins in our everyday lives & how to avoid them
-45 minute yoga session (focus on balance and stability)
Week 2: The digestive system
-Importance in detoxing of the digestive system
-Hints to know if your digestive system isn’t functioning properly
-Tips to help restore proper digestive functions and prepare for a detox
-45 minute yoga session (focus on twists)
Week 3: The liver
-What the liver does
- Importance of detoxing the liver
-Problems associated with an overburdened and/or under functioning liver
-Phase 1 & Phase 2 detoxing
-Why it is important to make sure to support both phase 1 and phase 2
-Tips to help promote optimal liver function and detox
-45 minute yoga session (focus on flow)
Week 4: The integumentary system and the urinary system
-Importance of detoxing the integumentary and urinary systems
-Signs and symptoms to know if the system is overburdened
-*Tips to help promote detoxing through the skin and kidneys
-Wrap up on what a good detox program must contain and general detox guidelines given
-45 minute yoga session (focus on forward folds and inversions)
*Tips will be based on dietary & lifestyle recommendations and will also include health promoting herbs.
