SAE Los Angeles to Host Camp BeatKNOCKS, an Interactive Music Production Summer Camp for Teens
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- SAE Institute’s Los Angeles campus will host Camp BeatKNOCKS, an interactive music production summer camp for teens. The camp will run from June 9 through June 13, and will introduce participating youngsters to the excitement of audio engineering, songwriting, and music production.
“When our campers complete their week-long Camp BeatKNOCKS experience, they’ll have gotten a brief yet comprehensive taste of what it takes to be a studio professional in the music business,” says Ty Woods, co-founder of Artportunity Knocks, which runs the Camp BeatKNOCKS program as well as other arts education programs for youths. “They’ll be working on industry standard equipment, learning from the pros, and gaining valuable insights, tips, and knowledge that will provide them with valuable lifelong creative media skills.”
The daily classes, sessions, and presentations at Camp BeatKNOCKS will include:
• An introduction to digital audio workstations (DAWs), including Logic, Protools, Ableton, and Maschine softwares
• Songwriting
• Music business education
• Studio collaborations with fellow campers
• One-on-one instruction from professional faculty
• Special workshops with Bill Jabr, owner of Blue Room Recording Studio (T.I., Usher, Young Jeezy, DJ Scream, Bobby V.); Lex Borrero, co-founder of 1916 Management; and writers/producers The Monsters and The Strangerz (Diddy, Rihanna, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kanye West, Big Sean, Cody Simpson)
“BeatKNOCKS campers will gain essential studio experience and make great connections with other teens who share their passion for music production,” says SAE Los Angeles Campus Director Bridget Gardiner. “They’ll also leave with cool swag from SAE, Ableton, and our other sponsors.”
Camp BeatKNOCKS will be held at SAE Institute’s Los Angeles campus, located at 6565 Sunset Blvd., #100. The week-long session will begin on Monday, June 9 and run through Friday, June 13. Daily camp sessions will take place from 9:30AM to 4:30PM. Prior studio experience isn’t required, but campers should be passionate fans of the beatmaking, recording, engineering, and production process. Sign up can be done online.
